Business Filings
There are a variety of business filings that business entities utilize during the life of a business. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with all of the business filing options and requirements. The following list outlines our business filings most popular business filing selections:
- Register a new business entity

Business Records
Business Records is responsible for issuing and authenticating:
- certificates of existence;
- certificates of authorization;
- certified copies of documents on file with the Office of the Secretary of State; and
- apostilles and authentications.
UCC
The Uniform Commercial Code Division (UCC) serves as the state repository for financing statements regarding security interests. These financing statements are filed by banks, mortgage companies, and other lending institutions against the secured collateral of individuals and other entities that are located within the state.
The Secretary of State is responsible for filing and maintaining financing statements on secured transactions under Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) as adopted in Kentucky, effective July 1, 2001.
